Earth Hour will be celebrated with a wonderful artistic exhibition by local artists Heidi McGeoch and Sam Larwill with their Vessels of Change, displaying a glowing solar powered city streetscape you can walk around.
This city streetscape will be created out of 44 gallon drums, with window cut-outs and solar lighting. As the sun goes down and the lights go out at 8.30pm, the only lighting will be from solar-powered lighting and the Vessels of Change exhibition will glow in the dark.
Bring your own picnic, warm clothing, rugs, comfy chairs and a drinking vessel.
There will be a sausage sizzle, a bar, live music, local solar providers to ask about solar and, very importantly, a workshop for kids to make and take home their own solar-powered lantern. You are asked to take home your own rubbish.
If you can walk or cycle to the event, do that, but there will be ample parking off Old South Road. Please don’t bring dogs as they are not permitted at the Botanic Gardens.
Although it is free, you should book your spot and the kids into the workshop on the website
