    Winner of design competition for new Visitor Centre

    The Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens has announced the winner of its design competition for a new Visitor Centre.

    Five award-winning architects and their design teams were selected to propose designs for the Visitor Centre. The entrants were CHROFI, Fender Katsalidis Architects, Hassell, John Wardle Architects and Tonkin Zulaikha Greer.

    Local dignitaries to conduct opening ceremonies at botanic gardens

    Wollondilly MP Jai Rowell will officially open the new amenities building at the Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens (SHBG) site in East Bowral.     New fencing in place

    Following the signing of our lease with Council we are proceeding with additional necessary fencing and gates. New gates have already been installed in the existing fence and an additional fence has been erected around the Latham’s Snipe habitat. Interpretive signs are being prepared for the gardens so that visitors can learn more about the Snipe and the other birds that frequent the garden and ponds.

    Amenities block nearer to completion

    We are now almost ready to complete our amenities block with electrical work, plumbing and drainage to take place over the coming weeks. Once completed the amenities block will enable our educational programs to begin.

    IMB Grant

    Development of the Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens has taken another step forward with the awarding of a $7,100 grant to the company by IMB Community Foundation. The funds will be used to install an automatic watering system and erect a shed for the safe storage of chemicals.
