The Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens are a community operated and funded garden. With no financial support from the Wingecarribee Shire Council we rely on donations and grant money to establish and maintain the gardens and to undertake development projects. From time to time, SHBG will identify a particular project and will campaign for funding to support that project.
Construction of the education centre commenced in August 2023. Although the construction is fully funded, to complete the internal fitout further funds are needed.
Finally the potting and tractor shed is scheduled to commence construction in late October 2023. Funds are still being sought to complete the fitout and electricity connection.
The future information centre, with cafe, gift shop and a 200 seat auditorium with a total capacity including gallery for 500 people has been designed by John Wardle Architects.
